What is the Retired Greyhound Trust?

The Retired Greyhound Trust is a national charity dedicated to finding loving homes for greyhounds who have retired from racing. On average, greyhounds are only aged between four and six when they retire and still have a long life ahead of them, usually living until they are 13 years old.

The Shawfield Retired Greyhound Trust is one of more than 70 branches that have been set up across the UK. Working together, the RGT nationally has found homes for more than 40,000 of these adorable dogs.

Visit our Homeless Hounds page to have a look at the dogs currently looking for caring owners.

We operate a spaying and neutering program. All dogs have their teeth cleaned, are fully vaccinated and have had a full health check before going out to their new homes. Our dogs also come with 6 weeks free insurance. A donation is required to help us carry on with this program.

We are also able to offer microchipping at a competitive rate.
